Hi. I'm a Zenfolio user thinking about switching over to SmugMug... I've waiting over a year for an iPhone friendly theme/website and there's none in site...

However, one thing I've really liked about Zenfolio is the ability to have a "Collection" of photos which is made up of various photos from different galleries. Aka, one may be of portraits that would be 20 pictures from various different uploaded galeries.

Does SmugMug offer a similiar option that I'm not missing?

I'd rather not have my 20,000 photos all viewable to the general public but like having them online for immediately family who I've given access to. For everyone else, I want just a subset and I'd rather not upload those pictures twice.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Not to be too cynical but does fast mean like in a few weeks or 2010? :-)

In the mean time do people just make "copies" of images and move them to a new gallery?

In the meantime, it's easier to just upload multiple copies to different galleries. Making copies and moving is a pain.

Completely depends how much editing/keywording/captioning you've done here on the site. I do lots that way for my "snapshot" (family, etc.) type photos, so in that case, copying & moving is much quicker than re-uploading.

Agreed. I try not to do caption and keyword editing on Smugmug, because then I don't have that data in my master library at home and can't use it there.
