I really like the first two pitcher pics... Nice and sharp. I really like that you can see the ball on the first one, and the expression of almost anguish on their faces!
I think home plate slide is cool, too... I really like the sense of motion to the runner's slide. I felt that the fielder on the left detracts from the overall composition though as he looks kinda out of place. Maybe you could lens blur him out of focus some more so he isn't as distinct? Just a suggestion, what do I know?
Hey, what kind of lens and settings did you have for this shot? Being a newbie to photography overall (at least good photography, like yours) I found it kind of interesting that the base runner was blurred yet the background is still pretty sharp (for a background -- was it a very long exposure?

I was running a 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens at f/4.0. Most of those shots were taken in the fading light around 7:30 EST. I use apeture priority when I shoot action shots. Seems to work best for me. With the base runner sliding into home plate, That was a better shot than I thought it was going to be. The light was fading, the lens was having trouble finding a focal point and I had to shoot fast. It wasn't a slow shutter speed that I had set, just the camera slowing down in order to compensate for the fading light of day.
Favorite shot of the bunch. Quite the capture. It looks like camera shake (assumption) in the background, but the catchers leg is very sharp. Talk about being in sync with your subject. Lots of action in that shot.

Hi Lindsay,
I like the shot. I'm not much of a baseball fan and only threw the ball around as a kid. What I really liked about your shot is when it first came up, I could smell the leather gloves, guess it struck a memory in what brain cells I have left.
Thanks for the post,
Chris

More Pics from our recent games. They're not great but they serve their purpose.

We had a film crew at the stadium last night as they were filming "The Dog Days of Summer." This is the director Mark Freiburger throwing the first pitch.
Just another one of the many movies being filmed in this area. Another is a new Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner movie called "The Guardian." They shot part of it just up the road from me.
Last one. I think I need to take my camera to the doctor. It's been worked pretty hard lately. The pics are little grainy and it usually doesn't have that problem.
Threw this one in for a change. It's the other team.

Here is another I took earlier in the season.
