What gets counted in stats?

Under stats I see counts for photos displayed in the various sizes. My question is what triggers a count? Does a person have to use the pop-out menu and select a size to get a view to count? If a person is viewing a gallery in the standard Smugmug style and clicks on a thumbnail, does that count as a view? If so, when a person first enters a gallery, does the first photo automatically get counted as a view? And (whew!) in something like journal view, at what point is a view recorded?

(I hope this question makes sense).

Thanks.

Anything small and larger gets counted by anyone that views your photos, if they are not logged in. This includes repeat visits and also embeds of your photos in forums or blogs.

So in a standard Smugmug layout, when a person clicks on the thumbnail and the photo on the right side of the layout changes, that gets counted as a view for that photo?

Sorry to be a pest here, just trying to get a handle on some numbers (BTW, love the new stats!!!)

If a person clicks into a gallery with a gallery style set to Smugmug (with thumbs on the left and what appears to be a medium-sized photo on the right), the first photo that comes up on the right side of the screen is then getting credited with a view, correct? Therefore, one could expect to see that the first photo displayed in any gallery would have a higher view count than the other photos in the gallery. Correct?

And you will notice the same (more views) for the first photo of any page of your gallery... it's much more visible now with the new stats.
