Which works better

I was going through photos to make an invitation for my grandfathers 85th birthday and I came across this one. I don't think it would make a good pic for an invitation but I think it works as a portrait. Thoughts? Which works better?

    1st one work better. I don't think that desaturated look is good on older folk. That said the 1st one isn't working for me..it's too contrasty and makes him look a bit creepy. I think you pushed it too far in the processing..look at the weird dark patches on his shirt.

    I don't know about "creepy," But the B&W treatment of the shot works better for me. rolleyes1.gif
