Sprint (for me) MiFi™ 2200 (mobile WiFi device that then connects to cell tower)
Pro Smug Mug account

Equipment setup
7D -->WFT-E5A --> MiFi --> SmugMug


You can probably guess where I'm going with this, so I'll just ask the question flat out:

Can you upload your images straight to your Smug Mug account (or gallery) via a simple FTP transmission without the aid of a PC (or the EyeFi)?

More specifially: Has anyone tried this configuration (or one like it)?



I like what I see with the EyeFi, but i'm out of luck when it comes to SD slots on the 7D. If there is a hack for this I'd love to know!

As far as I know there is no way to direct upload to SM via FTP. You might be able to hack something together on your machine that would set up an ftp folder, and then have another program scan that folder and upload them, but I don't know if a tool like that exists at the moment.

Also, I don't know if this would work at all - (probably not) - but could you get a SD -> CF adapter and use your eyefi in that? What I'm unsure about is whether or not that would nuke the upload capability. Might be worth a try, though.
