Hi Y'all,

Things have been fairly slow at my favorite shooting site, the Viera Wetlands for a siome time. I would spend the day there and return with around 200 captures whixh is a fairly low number for me.

Today I got the work around the house done around 2:30 and we had some nice light so I figured I would bop down to the wetlands and take a few shots.

When I arrived back at the house a few hours later I came home with close to 700 captures.

I started out at the click ponds and found them awash with cormorants and wood storks.

I found a cormorant enjoying its catch

A few yards down the road I got this anhinga to pose for me.

While I was working with the anhinga a northern harrier flew by

When I entered the wetlands I found this green heron

When I turned into the next road I met up with a caracara enjoying a fish

A short while later I found a GBH with some vegetation

Now this mean that heron love is in the air and I found 3 gbh couples engaged in nest building. :barb

as sunset approached I got this capture of a great egret

To make the day even better the sunset was pretty neat

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Harry you are making me jealous! rolleyes1.gifI had about 30 minutes of light drizzle to get some shots before it started pouring!

Great set! The GBH pair with the branch is awesome! clap.gif

Thanks Glenn, that's the advantage of living 10 minutes away from the wetlands. I just hang around and sooner or later some good weather and light comes around. :cavig

Thanks Joel, from the number of fish I saw get munched down by various birds it looks like their food supply is good and if there's food there will be birds.

All of the images are beautiful! I'm jealous of the time/conditions you had to get out and capture these shots. It's been wet and sloppy where I am - Not a good time for me to venture out with my camera.

Thanks, one of teh advantages of the current cold and windy conditions w ehave down here is that you get some interesting feather effects.

As is the norm, you have a terriffic set of captures here, Harry. By far, in my opinion, the Northern Harrier has to be one of the best that I have ever seen. thumb.gif

Thanks Nancy, Viera was definitely coming back but when I shot there yesterday I saw that there had been another major fish kill that included 3 cells and the click ponds. If it has a major impact on the food supply things might start to slow down again. :cry
