R1800 costs

I'm reconsidering an Epson R1800 printer. Before I plunge, however, I'm wondering does anyone have a feel for their ink costs? For 13x19 prints, I'm looking for average ink costs in high-quality photo mode, and/or in a lower quality photo mode.

Thanks.

    I have a group test from a magazine which placed this printer in joint second place (with the cannon i9950)to the R2400 but gives no indication of the print cost, however since it uses the same cartridge as the R800, I should imagine that the cost of an A3 print on the R1800 would be twice the cost of the R800 at A4 at the same quality resolution.

    If however ink cost is an issue, try another brand, the test quoted £91 for a complete set of Epson cartridges £12 each and £8 for the gloss optimiser (that may not be the cheapest price available in the UK but acts as a guide)

    I know Pros who use Jettec ink and swear by it for similarity, if you have calibrated the printer and monitor for the ink, there should be no problem with the correlation or the longevity. A quick google gave me a price of £46.99.

    I deliberately did not change this into $ because there is no relationship between the price in the UK and in the USA and the exchange rate

    I was interested in buying either the R1800 or the i9950 but in the end decided to keep my R300 and bought my wife the C66 since all she wants to do is print documents.

    I will look forward to any further posts, with greater input...

    Cheers

    Stan

    PS: A4 = 8.268 x 11.693 inches
    A3 = 11.693 x 16.535 inches therefore twice the size of A4

    I don't know about the per print cost but this link makes it damn cheap:

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007OVML0/102-4503756-8082556

    Only $165. If you use a new Amazon card they knock off another $30 bringing it to a dirt cheap $135.

    I guess that makes the print cost slightly irrelevant thumb.gif
