Hello fellow DGrinners... this is my first post in the Street/PJ forum... and I think that I read the rules correctly so I'm adding this photo to get your input/comments/critiques and any and all that you can throw my way, good and or bad...

Thanks...

Except for the license plate, there's not much unusual here and it's not clear why this is supposed to be interesting. headscratch.gif Perhaps a wider view would have given it the context it's lacking.

Welcome to the forum! I'm loath to be honest as this is your first visit here, but...Were there people sticking out the windows, sitting on the roof, and hanging on the sides, and were there a bit of context so that we'd see the surroundings, this might be something. But as is? It's just a shot of a VW bus with people in it - no more crowded than most family cars heading out on vacation. mwink.gif

Thank you guys... that's exactly why I'm here... to learn... and I'll guesstimate that this other "packed" shot will probably not fare as well, but here it goes...

I'll post more stuff to get more insight/input from awesome people like yourselves...

Seeing the first shot, and seeing this, Miguel, I have to ask what it is you think you're photographing? Why these sights compel you to push the shutter release? I'm not being critical or sarcastic - honest. :D I'm trying to understand what you're seeing that I'm not, so that I can respond to these images.
I ask because I deal with traffic like this five-days-a-week on my commute home, and I am driving/riding in Boston and Cambridge, USA, not in Egypt. :D

Actually BD... I want you to be critical of my stuff... that is the only way to learn... or at least, it has always worked for me... which is why I said that the second image would also not do well...

I'll give you a bit of insight into the "why", which I guess I'm missing from the photos. I "saw" this but forgot to "capture" it on the photos... does that make sense???

While riding on the tour bus in Cairo, I noticed that there are no lanes on the streets... people basically make their own lanes of traffic... so in one area the road may be able to handle what we would consider 3 lanes of traffic but there would actually be 5 lanes of traffic... people basically on top of each other...

Now, thanks to me posting this and the comments here, I see what you are saying... which actually makes total sense...

In Madrid there are lanes marked on the street but people do the same anywayrolleyes1.gif.

Hahaha... so true, I mean, don't get me wrong, the same happens in Mexico... but I guess seeing how people would drive only inches from other cars was kind of unusual... and I should've gone wider to show what I "saw"...

Which again, is helping me see what I'm not seeing in my shots...

BTW, these aren't "packed" but since it's my thread and I'm getting great input, I'll add these two to see what you guys think...

The shot of the boy on the mule would be killer in black and white with a little post-processing. The woman on the left side works for me...it adds conversation and movement to the moment.

A "post" is a response in the thread. Notice that they are numbered. So the "post" by damonff is #10 in this thread which you have named "Packed".

BTW, it is usually better to begin a new thread if you post new pictures. That way someone who has looked at "Packed" would not miss it because they already saw the first shot and thought new entries were about that one.

Sorry, rainbow, but I have to kindly disagree. Damonff was talking about editing (processing) the image after uploading it to your computer (post-processing, or, PP) in his comments I believe.

I will not edit it, though, or your reference to my "miss" will not make sense. Thanks for catching it so quickly thumb.gif

Yeah... my bad... I should've clarified... I meant what kind of post-pro should be done to the photo before converting it into B&W...

As far as opening a new thread... BD and the gang in this thread were already kicking my a$$ with their knowledge and insight, which is why I was showing two other examples... for more kicking...

But you are correct... I should've open up a new thread with the new photos... I see your point on that... ;)
