What are these shorebirds?

-They look like Plovers but slightly larger. Taken in SoCal.

    Turns out they're Sanderlings. Very similar to Plovers but Sanderlings eat crustaceans (sand crabs, etc.). Plovers eat bugs (kelp flies, mostly).

    Took me forever to figure this out...
