eagle fly-by
while i was at the park yesterday waiting for a common merganser to come into range, i got a different treat... this bald eagle flew by several times, looking for fish. he made one pass so close i had to back off my zoom to 200mm to get the shot! the sky wasn't exactly cooperative, and the light was pretty flat, but i was reasonably happy with these... 40D, 100-400L, 1/500 @ f/9...

Again though, the detail of the heads in both shots is just great! I also really like the composition.

thanks, Ron... i agree about the wing detail. the light was pretty flat, and once the eagle leveled out, there wasn't much light under his wings to work with, and i didn't want to screw it up by trying to pull too much out of the shadows...

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
