Trumpeters at -22 degrees
One of the things Davev and I like to cover in the extreme temps are the Trumpeter Swans along the Mississippi River. There's an area on the river where it doesn't freeze and nearly 1,500 swans call it home during the long winter months.
The reason for shooting in the extreme cold is the steam shots we are able to come away with. However, at -22 there was too much steam to create the effect we were looking for.
Once the temps warmed up to -12 the steam lessened and we were able to walk away with a few shots.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

At these temps my batteries were good for 100-125 shots then I needed to rotate them.
