Wow what a thrill for you my friend, right up there with the big boys and all their toys, and girl butts, and and and just the thrill of it all.
Great coverage of shots Gus, I've never been to a car race, looks like a great event to attend.........I'm really happy for you Gus, must have been a fantastic day for you, and what a great set of photos, you did real good.

WOW GUS!!! I've been looking forward to seeing the these since you first mentioned you had the pass. This is a sweet set of photos!! You really captured the activity as well as bits of the race. How crazy was it to not only see but capture the flipping car? eek7.gif (oh, and of course I appreciate that you included the "girl butts" as Skippy pointed out)

What a day - congrats on the pass and the great photos! clap.gifclap.gif

    Wow!!
That was amazing. I don't think I wold have been able to take those kind of pictures if I was in that situation. All the excitement, adrenaline pumping, crashes, girls butts.....

It looks like you kept your wits about you and got some very nice shots.
Congratulations and I hope the press passes keep coming.

You ask me for advice and then you post a series of photographs that are the equal of any I see in a car magazine,,, clap.gif gus. The pics are razor sharp. Great pics mate, great pics.

You should show them to your local paper. They would definitely take them. I know you said that you can't sell the pics but I wonder was that a bar on you selling prints? I'm sure that the series organisers want newspaper and magazine coverage?

    Again, brilliant stuff.

I had my back to it as i was in pit lane & over the engines & earplugs i heard people yelling so i just turned & shot like crazy mate. I was on ISO100 with the 135mm on f/2 so it shot to 1/8000...i was lucky they even worked the bit they did.

There's too much work in raw for me to use it for motorsports, I set up at a corner and shoot couple of test shots to get the histogram right then keep an eye on it while I blaze away.

The mkII's are amazing on full auto. I heard one for the first time on Sunday ripping off a burst. it sounded like a machine gun rolleyes1.gif . There are rumours of Canon bringing out a new camera in the Autumn. There might be a few second hand mkII's available if this happens.

Thanks mate...they let just a handfull of media passes out to amatures each year & you have to be early. A friend that is involved with the cars gets free tickets all the time & asked if i wanted to go out. I got him to check lens lengths for me with the organisers (you know how some sporting places wont let amatures with big lenses in nowadays) & they apparently said they had room for one more photog.

The actual pit pass was a 'sign-on' early in the day. You could only have 30 mins & all the pro's were in early & took the good times but fortunately for me ...that huge stack was 10 mins into my 30 min allocation & everyone pitted straight away for fuel.

Nice to see a progressive organisation that welcomes the amatures.
