Micro Snow Macros

I did some micro snow (3/16th" and less) macros via a poor mans macro. I used a 2x tele-converter and a 50mm on a reverse ring. I allowed the snow to fall on an unused picture frame and shot from a tripod with clouded sun light as the light source. The results were rather surprising.

Additionally you can see a few more that I did on my Flickr with the background painted out and also one with a gel pen tip for a size comparison.

The smallest here would sit on the head of a needle.

I managed to get this in landscapes rather than macros so if a mod could move it that would be great, thanks.

very cool and clear for a 'poor mans macro'. now being a poor man myself, i have both of the len's used, whats the process involved in getting good macro's with this setup? Do you need heaps of light and how hard is it to focus?
    May I take your picture?

I am planning to do this soon, considering there is only snow to shoot in my neck of the woods :)

Simply a reverse ring for your lens and in my case I used natural light but have since bought an LED ring light but have yet to try it. Focusing is a bit tough considering your focusing method will be moving the camera. Then it is a matter of finding an appropriate shutter setting to get the capture and a suitable glass for the flake to land on.
