Trophy shot

Thursday I am taking pictures of a couple of large hockey trophies. The client wants to get "cutouts" of the trophies and then play around in photoshop to find the right background.

Question is "How do I control/minimized the reflections on the trophies?"

Any ideas/techniques I can use?

I have a sheet of black foam core with a hole in it that I poke the lens through. That mostly keeps the reflection of the camera out of the shot. Beyond that I typically use collection of muslin, foam core, acrylic and translucent plastic to construct an environment around my subject which I can then light. Remember that when shooting reflective subjects you light the environment rather than the subject.
