Swim Meet Pics

Ok, so I'm fairly new to this. Just picked up a D50 a few days ago but haven't been able to use it yet. Most of these were shot with my D20. Any advice/feedback on how I can improve my skills would be appreciated.

I quite like #5 too. I wondered if I had sharpened it a bit too much...

Nice set! #5 does seem a little over-sharpened. The water droplets look a little like glass beads and there appears to be a color shift or bleed in the hand and face as compared to #6.

I love #7! . The girl looks like she is just gliding thru syrup—not your typical image

You don't seem to be having any problems with the lighting that you mentioned in your earlier post.:D

Keep up the good work! My team is taking part in a 6 team invitational tomorrow (Saturday).

Thanks for your comments. I picked these to post as they were the best for lighting. Some on the other hand....

I like #6 and especially #7. #6 for how the water freezes and #7 the smoothness of the water.

I've heard that Breaststroke is best shot from the end of the pool with the swimmer coming towards you. Same for fly, or even from above if possible. Free and Back are best shot from side on. Our team have individual portraits taken each year on the deck with the pool in the backgrounds. The kids love to see their action shots though

I like the last shot.
It would be helpfull if the exif information hadn;t been stripped from the image. So, I will ask.

What lens, settings were you using.

Just curious. I had the chance to shoot a meet last week and probably will get another soon.

An indoor pool. 2 of the side are full height and length glass, so plenty of light (at the right time of the day)

She was in the lane closest to me - just coming out of the breakout into backstroke. Shot at 70mm
