2009 Winter Steam Festival
It's been a few months since my last post or visit to Dgrin. I've had a busy year with photography and school. Luckily, my "higher education" will be completed in 4 days.
Anyway, on December 28th my family met beachbill and his family in Promentory, Utah, for the annual Winter Steam Festival. When we arrived, the temperature was 4 degrees. The steam from the locomotive hung in the air like thick fog. It was a beautiful clear day, no wind, just freezing cold.
This year I had some fun with my Lensbaby Composer and the wide angle adapter. The BW images were converted with Nik Silver Efex Pro. The last four images were shot in bracket mode, combined with Photomatix Pro, then converted to BW with Nik Silver Efex Pro.
One thing I learned on this adventure: I need to leave myself more room for cropping. For example, I love the last image, but trying to squeeze it all in a 8x10 print is impossible.
