Has anyone tried the Leki Sierra Foto System 2009 Walking Pole?
I do a lot of walking and find my Gitzo monopod can get a bit heavy after a while, I like the look of the Sierra but dont want to buy it if it's just a toy.

As I received no answers I assume either no-one knows what a Leki Sierra Photo System walking pole is, or no-one has tried one.
I decided to to take a risk and buy one, Leki make some of the best walking/mountain poles on the market and this one is designed with a camera mount incorporated in the top.
Unlike some of the cheaper poles available, it is quite a low tech camera mount, being a simple 1/4 screw solidly mounted in the top on the pole with a large locking ring to secure the camera. When not in use the screw and ring are covered by a polished wood knob which screws onto the camera position and forms a comfortable grip for walking. Below that is a foam hand grip for mountain walking or to hold the pole when the camera is mounted.
After a couple of weeks use, I've found it easy to use and comfortable to walk with, the screw lock joints allow it to be extended to eye height and dont slip in use. with the camera mounted it feels solid and secure.
I have taken to using a small ball head with it so I can change the angles easily without moving the stick and this seems to work very well.
As Mountain canes go it is quite expensive, but you have to pay for quality and I'm sure mine will pay for itself with its versatility.
