I like the idea of this, but the blue OOF objects pull my eye away from the confection. Maybe bake some more and re-shoot??

I agree.

Unfortunately, my baking skills are zilch! Those were a gift and I just wanted to do that shoot before they all disappeared.

No, but you could easily isolate the blue patch and lower its saturation and even its hue and brightness. I do that often when some discordant color is lurking in the background.
