Watermark Tutorial

I almost have my site finished up. Before I start uploading photos from lightroom, I want to make sure I understand correctly.

The smallest image I can put a watermark on is 800px on the longest side? I am perceiving this from the second "Gotcha" on the link posted above.

I wanted to upload my original file, use the medium to large link share image with a watermark to be used on dgrin and other forums. I try to keep images used on forums at 750 longest side.

Hi there. That will be fine and it should work since you are actually watermarking all the image sizes except the original image (we never watermark originals). As long as the original image is larger than 800pix on the largest size it will work.

For example check this out. The original size has the watermark but so does the small.

    Right Click Protection
I already have the right click protection on my site, do I still need to watermark?

Right-click protection takes seconds to bypass with either a screen shot or other means. It is a mild deterrent at best and effective only for the non-internet savvy. Use it if you want, but do NOT rely on it for protection. A tastefuly done, semi-transparent watermark that isn't easily cropped out is the best form of protection against people taking your images to make their own prints.
