My daughter attended a workshop/competition this past weekend and while I failed to get any good shots of her due to (really) poor lighting conditions on the night of her performance, I didn't manage to get some other good shots:

Thanks. I couldn't take a bad picture of that guy. He was one of the instructors. I also got lucky on the lights. ;)

Thanks Scott. I've been doing "kids" for the past year, it was an eyeopener to do adults for the first time.

Your pictures look great. I especially like the urban shots, awesome composition every one.

What lens(es) and/or techniques are you using? I love how crisp the lit shots came out, and have yet to produce anything as clean as those yet. Most of my proficiency comes when the light drops to almost nothing, or so it seems...

Those are a bit brighter than my usual pictures as well. I was amazed by that first shot when I brought it up. ;)

This is more what I'm used to:

I'm almost always using my 70-200 2.8L. I shoot ISO1600 on a 20D. I try to keep my shutter speed no slower than 1/200. That usually leaves me a bit underexposed at 2.8.

    Hi Tony,
I like all the shots, but #3 is my favorite. I like your shallow DOF in #1 and the dramatic lighting in #4 (still too dark though). #3's lighting really makes this shot stand out.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Chris

A picture is but words to the eyes.
    Comments are always welcome.
