Gull at Mono Lake

The gulls at Mono Lake have an interesting hunting method. They run down the shore and stir up the brine flies, all the while keeping their mouth wide open.

    I didn't see the Gulls doing that last time I was at Mono Lake, eons ago... what a neat photo!

    It sure seemed Tasty to the gulls, and believe it or not, according to the movie running at the visitor center the local indian tribe used these flies as the staple of their diet.. I'm not sure I've ever been that hungry...
