2 questions.

1) I set my picture size to original but why turn out so small in slideshow? Is there a way for viewer to adjust? Also, is there a way to omit all the description when viewing slide?

2) I remember someone (about at least a few weesk ago) posted about the top row of film is blocking the slide show and the mouse has to remain still for 4 sec before the film disappear. Can I assume this has not be resolved as I still see the film blocking the slide. Its really annoying.

Above may have already addressed but I can't seems to detect any. Sorry if I repeat the question. Many thanks

You did not upload large images to that gallery. The slideshow is showing the images as large as you uploaded. It cannot make them larger than what you uploaded. When I breeze through the gallery, none of the images are even as large as 800px on the long side. To get large images in the slideshow, you should have at least 1500px on the long side.

If comparing to the other 3 styles, the slideshow is still smaller. Why is it so? Or is it due to above description that restrict the size, but I reckon should be hardly the case.

Also, do you have the latest report of the question 2.

    thanks

On question 1, I don't understand where you think the images are smaller than they could be. You will not get larger images until you upload larger images.

On question 2, there is currently no way to control the floater that has a list of the thumbs and goes away after a few seconds of no mouse activity. It is what it is.

For example, view under thumnail, the longside is 165mm. But when view under slide, the longside is 105mm (for the 1st pic as an example)

Sorry, last edition, didn't know why the link didn't link to the actual page. Anway, go to "Sawn Lake" gallery and look at the 1st pic. Thanks.

If that is the case, then I think its a bad design (my view)

On point 2, there are lots of people that want control over the slideshow floater. I have no idea if Smugmug is going to do anything about it or not. They've known about the request for awhile, but we've not heard anything about whether they will change it.

On point 1, I get the exact same size images in the gallery view as in the slideshow. Enclose are two screen shots where both images measure 640px across.

You may notice that the colors are slightly different. That is the difference between color-management in Firefox web display and no color-management in Adobe Flash (the slideshow).

    From Slideshow:

    From Gallery:

The only reason I know of that the gallery slideshow wouldn't show a large enough image is if your browser window isn't large enough for it to select the maximum size.

Thansk for revert. The firfox certainly looks richer.

But strange, your print screen for slide is marginally larger than thumbnail, whereas my slide is so much smaller. This what I got over my 15" screen.

    768887223_GXrGX-L.jpg

Could a 15" screen possibly not big enough. I thought 15" screen is quite common. Or did I misunderstood you? Sorry, I'm very low techie (just know how to compose photo).

If you measure the actual image width (not the cropped screen capture width, but the image inside) in the two samples I posted, they are identical.

15" screen is pretty small these days. That's typical in a smallish laptop. Pretty much all desktop systems come with at least 17" these days. I'm using a 30" monitor right now and have a 17" on my laptop. Only small laptops, netbooks or smartphones are typically smaller.

But, it has as much to do with your window size in your browser and the viewable area inside the browser window and the space available for teh slideshow. If you have lots of browser toolbars, OS toolbars and a window that isn't full screen, and a large gallery description taking up a bunch of space, then you may just not have enough space for the max size in which case Smugmug picks the closest ready-made size that will fit which is Medium in this case. For some reason, the gallery slideshow view also likes to reserve a bunch of extra space around the image so it nevers makes it quite as large as it could be. If you're window size is borderline, you may just not be getting the largest size because of window dimension issues. You can try temporarily cutting the gallery description down to one line to see if that makes a difference.

    Thanks jfriend,

Your assistance most helpful. Seems like I have to empty my pocket soon for a bigger screen.

    thanks
