Layering and Composition
I would like to learn more about layering in composition. I know the concept of having positive and negative space. The perception of depth will be more profound if a negative space layer separates any two positive space layers. My question can better be asked by using two of my photos:
The water is negative space and occupies its own layer. However, are the boats and buoys occupying their own layer or is each object occupying its own indivdual layer? If all of the objects in the water are one layer, then there should be 4 layers in this photo... water, boats and buoys, background trees and the sky.
The picture below is pretty much the same....lobster traps in the foreground is one layer...then a negative space of just water, then rocks and boats. Then there is the backround trees and sky.
Any help or references would be greatly appreciated.
