shoot with a model
This young gal is a friend of mine, this was supposed to be a comped photoshoot of her and her new husband, but he bailed out 3 weeks before the wedding. sooooooo I told her there was no need for her to lose out of a fun shoot because he was a flake. I gave her a few ideas on what I wanted to do. I shot her with her business partner in this location last summer. She supplied the wardrobe, and did a great job!
This was my first attempt to use a light meter outdoors! it worked very well except for the times I was too lazy to go take another reading, thinking awww this is close enough! All of those were awful!
These pretty much turned out how I wanted and that is such a joy to get good pics SOOC.:barb :barb :barb
Oh and as you can tell she has modeling experience and that also made this fun and easy!!!
1
My main idea was to have her way over dressed for the natural scenery/desert.
2
I find this one to be very haunting....

#1 - her feet appear cut off by the rocks, and in
#2 - we can see she is sitting on something (to keep her clean?) and her feet look like they're floating, which looks like she really is not wanting to be in that environment in her pretty dress (looks a little tentative, rather than just being there and soaking it up, if that makes any sense).
Colors and light are beautiful!
Comments and constructive critique always welcome!

If I post it, please tell me how to make it better. My fragile ego can take it.
Agree, love the last shot! What light meter are you using? Looks like it works well.
Elaine..strange you should mention her feet, in #2 she had them on a rock, no matter what I did I was not happy with her feet in that photo. Later I decided that her feet might be a bit flat and not flexible. Not dainty like the rest of her. Yes I forgot to edit out the sheet!!

Was the background manually blurred? I see some "smudges" in one image.

Question 'mom. Since you used a light meter, I'm assuming these are all shot with flash. Can you explain your setup a little?
Thanks!

Joe, I did not use a flash. This was late afternoon sun in Arizona. I did do a little dodging on her face in PP on a few.
I can't believe what a difference it is making now to use manual on my camera and not let my camera's meter guess for me.
This wonderful location is in Gilbert, AZ. The east valley area of Phoenix. You should check it out if you are ever in the area, I LOVE it.

Love #3. All shots are nice, but the composition and conversion are really nice. Great pic. Also like the last two a lot (very fashion mag/ad feel).
x2. Great series!!
