I have posted here a few times some pictures from my trip to Ecuador. I went because I was invited by a host family of Indigenous Indians. I stayed for a week in their community and the memories are irreplaceable. I keep going back to one photo in particular.

During my stay the neighbors who lives a few hundred yards away house burned to the ground. Their possessions destroyed by a fire and propane tank explosion, which killed their pet guinea pig.

Here are a series of pictures from that day. But I will post the one picture I am talking about first.

This is the picture I keep going back to. It is really hard to take in. First off they are very poor and to lose their house in which their family grew up in to be destroyed over night is hard to fathom. To me this speaks volumes.

As a firefighter, I see this sort of thing often, and it's never any easier. Always tragic, always horrible, and probably especially so when there's no hope for insurance or things of that sort to help rebuild. ne_nau.gif I hope they pull through!

Thank You for the comments. My host friend and I took some pictures so we could submit it to the Ecuadorian government for some assistance to help rebuild their home.
