Replacing Images

I have been on smugmug for about 3 years now and love storing my photos here for family and friends to view.

I would like to know if there is a way to replace a photo and have the direct URL not change at all. It seems when I replace a photo with an updated image the url changes by adding I believe a "-1" after the old URL. This breaks the image in the places I have posted it. I know that when I have used photobucket for this type of thing the image name stays the same. Maybe I am not doing something correctly but would love to know how to do the same thing here. Does anyone here know?

My understanding is that adding all of the previous links to the photo should correctly point to the new photo. The "-1" is to fool the browser's cache, so that it doesn't accidentally return a cached copy of the original photo.

If you clear your browser cache (or use a different browser), then you should see the updated photo, even on the old links.

We automatically serve up the new image - but it's possible that our Content Delivery Network is being stubborn on your old one - it'll change.

Or try Shift-refreshing in your browser, even a few times, in case local cache on your machine is stuck.

Thanks so much. I will try it again - but I am pretty sure last time I got a red x.
