SLR Flash on DSLR

If anyone has a Nikon SB-16 and a Nikon D60 please PM me. I'm having problems setting it up to work properly on my camera. For some reason no matter what I set the camera on I get an ever exposed picture. From my 35mm days I know flash sync was always 1/60th, is that not true anymore?
when I use the guide on the back of the flash, that causes even worse results.

Another thing to worry about is the age of the flash....older film era flashes had really high trigger voltages and can easily burn the syncing circuits of modern DSLR's their trigger voltages, as far as I have found out, never exceed 6v and some older hotshoe flash units were up into the 200+ volt range.....so be very careful....I think I would recommend a Wein Safe Sync....an extremely good $50 investment when connecting an older flash to any digital camera.............
I found this ebay auction for the same Item I was given. Now I wish I didn't give away my Stroboflip bracket.

Thank You for the compliment.....I always try to help where I can........now I am blushing
Take a look at this site......PIXSYLATED........this long arm thing, much like Jeffereux2's Light on a Stick.....only much longer and possibly lighter.....never used either one.....but it definitely looks like a very good option....even for me as a wedding photog.
