From Monday, July 25, can't believe I actually recovered......seems like at least two weeks ago rather than a few days. This was my reward, and a tidbit for all of you who have suffered through the rotten shots. Not that these are that great. But they are my fave bird: the Wood Stork, on its way back from near extinction in the Carolinas (actually, I think Florida sent it up when people started living in the Everglades, something like that).

This was towards the end of what was really a fruitless walk up the bridge.
Sunset photo at the end. I promise.

Above, wood stork landed in a fishing spot occupied by an Egret. They look better individually. The Wood Stork took over. Or the Egret gave the Wood Stork space. Something like that. After a bit the Wood Stork left.....

Bird In Flight below. The lens focused. I don't know why, considering the light level, every setting I had it on was wrong, just about. Etc. I am honored to present a "clean" Wood Stork in flight:

He circled around, started to go towards the houses on the edge of the marsh where the Egrets were all headed, then he turned and went to the Isle of Palms instead, notice the lights are on at the dock with the American flag.

A peak here at the sun with the light level at which I thought I could shoot, and this was before the Wood Stork photos. I know the photo itself could be improved upon, but this is just for our information, and your enjoyment.
I hope.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Nice shots Ginger. I think I might be "cheating" in photoshop and adding one of those flying storks to that sunset pic. eek7.gif

Birdman, that would be cool! The summer of the Wood Stork! And the night heron, a bit, of course. And the Osprey.

Do you live in the Everglades? Is the Wood Stork in your backyard, or are you in his?:D

I love those birds, and I just found a bunch of them. I even found the tree that produces them, or one of the trees: a Wood Stork tree, I guess.

To me, they look like a meeting of clergy, from whatever denomination, with clergical garbs, meeting all together. That was how I first saw them. I actually started singing "Down by the riverside". They look muslim to me, but that might upset people, and I hate to stereotype, but they do look like a group with a plan.......... and the white garbs......

I guess we all have our fave birds, mine is the wood stork.

(There is a reason. In 1985, I was in an old very small boat, getting a ride to an island, the "old" man "driving" the boat, was excitedly looking for something called a Wood Stork. He said that there had been a sighting which was great as those birds were close to extinction...........

Now, I see them, what a sad thing it would have been to have lost those regal looking birds. We did not see them on that ride in the 80s. And I was not "into" birds, but the man's passion was such that I never forgot his information. I tucked it in my brain and have pondered it, until this summer.)
