Stereogram (or 3D shot pairs)

Our friend Brian (LordV is his name) likes doing these, and I did one or two way back in 2007. Anyway, here it is.

Remember, what you have to do is stare at the image and allow yourself to cross-eyed, and the two sides blend together and you will (or you should) see the 3D effect that this creates. In my attempt, you will see the stalk and leaves drop behind the buds, and leaves pop forward from the buds, and the buds gain depth to.

Try it - it is great fun, and I had forgotten how much fun creating these can be. I'll have to try it with bugs sometime!

WDYT?

    FUN, FUN, FUN!

Another way to bring the images together is to stare at your finger near the screen and slowly bring the finger toward you as you watch it (a different way of crossing the eyes). Notice, but do not focus on the two images getting closer. When they merge as one, remove the finger and hopefully your eyes will "lock and focus".

Thanks for sharing this. And making me realize that we can do this with our own cameras!

    Your quite welcome.

Kudos must go to LordV, as it is he who got me to try these ages ago!

I may have missed the rules part about posting one image per thread ... I just went and read the new rules but didn't see anything about that. Is there a bigger pot of rules than the ones I read? headscratch.gif

    I don't want to break them .... :)

Laughing.gif, that's funny, I was thinking that I may have broken a rule by one of my other posts! I'm good then!

If you do it correctly, you actually see three images. Focus on locking on the middle one. And if you take stuff stronger than Advil, you don't even need the photos to see it!rolleyes1.gif

Cool. Have you printed this and mounted it into an actual stereograph device? Also have you seen that you can actually get ViewMaster discs made with images like this?

I try and try and try. I've read all the tricks. Can't make my mind merge the two into a single 3D image. :(

I wonder though, all the hub bub over 3D movies (which I'm still not convinced is worth the extra cost, please pay for better screen plays first!), 3D photography just never seemed to take off. I mean, with the exception of ViewMaster, that is.

DaddyO, if you are too close or too far away from the monitor, it does your head in, so It's a case of trying to be at the right distance too.

It works on any type of scene I reckon. I tried it on a pano of a landscape last night and even that worked.

    Persevere m8.
