cropping square thumbnails

i'm having trouble cropping thumbnails that i want square.

i have a set of square thumbnails. one is not giving me the right view, so i go to the crop tool and crop it, keeping the original ratio. after i save the crop, i am left with the original thumbnail, not the squared one. i re-square the photo... and the crop is gone.

is there any way to crop a square thumbnail? thanks.

In order to have a square thumbnail, you do not want to use Original ratio...you want to use 1x1. Select that from the Crop Ratio drop down, move your square to where you want it and save.
