Pricing, and "Design Requests" available to my clients for books, calendars, etc...

I would love to have the opportunity to design, and offer books, and calendars for my clients, seamlessly in the shopping cart. Without drawing too much attention to my mark up, or design fee. It's quite easy for my customers to navigate to MyCanvas, FotoFlot, and ImageKind to see their base prices. Being a modest person, justifying my mark-ups are a bit embarrassing for me, and I would like to avoid an uncomfortable explanation. Although I’m not a legal eagle, I think I may have a solution.

In a perfect world, I would like to see something like this:

Books, Calendars, Collages, Animoto Video’s, FotoFlots, Imagekind framing pricing available in the “Set Prices” section.

For items like books, I would like to be able to display a “Starting Price” and disclose the incremental increases due to quantity, and pages.

I would like my clients to have the option to send me a “Design Request” for these items.

I would like my clients to see something like this:

Click the “Buy” button, and under “This Photo”

Make FotoFlots, and Imagekind Framing available for a “Design Request”. While disclosing that the client has not yet been, and will not be charged, until the photographer has responded to, and accepted the “Design Request”, and then only after the proof has been accepted by the client. In Imagekind's case, the dual photo framing choices.

Or perhaps my client could pay my price for the print, and just choose the specific framing (FotoFlot, or Imagekind) from the cart?

For multiple photos, under “Photo’s in this gallery”

Make Books, Calendars, Collages, Animoto Video’s, and Imagekind dual image framing available for a “Design Request”. Again disclosing that the client has not yet been, and will not be charged, until the photographer has responded to, and accepted the “Design Request”, and then only after the proof has been accepted by the client. (I only know of MyCanvas allowing previews to be sent to clients.)

[FONT=&quot]Just thought I’d put that out there, since I’ve been asked plenty of times for books and calendars.. It would just be easier if my clients could just see MY starting price for these items, (Avoiding the need for justification) and send me a “Design Request” from the SmugMug shopping cart.

BTW, SmugMug is becoming so amazing! :clap
There always seems to be some wonderful idea, or completed feature available when I sign in.
I almost exploded when I saw the new stats page!!! :barb This new feature convinced me to fill out the tax forms, and set my prices.

Thank you so much for all your hard work! :thumb

I've been waiting for this for a LOOOOOONG time. I want to be able to resell anything available to me in the shopping cart.

You guys are great about offering us (owners) products but we can't always resell them.

It would be great if you guys had the mind set where before you add some new product to the catalog, first make sure we can resell it. That should be the pre-requisite for anything added to the cart. At least that's how I'd run it if I were in charge. But I know you guys are on the case, so... we wait.

I know it's easier said than done, so thanks for all you do! :D

Is this coming in 2010? I have a really busy wedding season this year and would LOVE to offer books to my clients. Can we get an update on this?

    Thanks!

Books, Calendars, Collages, Animoto Video’s, FotoFlots, Imagekind framing pricing available in the “Set Prices” section.
is there any update on this (or a more recent thread - I didn't see one)

I'm especially interested in the framing option. Is it still the case that customers cannot order frames via Imagekind (only owners?)

There isn't a typical price, it depends on your business.

You might want to take a look at the pricing links in the Photographer's Resources: Law, Marketing, Supplies, etc. sticky in the Mind Your Own Business forum. I'm sure there are other discussions here as well, might try a search on the forum.

I recommend going to the shots section for the type of photography you want to sell, and look at the links in the posts to different sites and look at the pricing in them.

That's what I did to get a range on each of the sizes as well as what people provide. I then googled photogs in my area and specialization to see if there was a regional variation in the pricing range.

    Good luck.

How are people usually settling with customers outside of SmugMug? Via PayPal? Some other way? Thank you.
