CH 44 - First Post - Bonobo Treat!!

This is my first post to D-Grin. I've been lurking for a month or so and really like what I see. My family and I went to the San Diego Zoo this weekend and I got this shot. I just got the EOS 20D a month ago (I've been using a Canon G2 for about 3 years and an EOS Elan before that) and am still learing how to use it. Is it worth an entry into the challenge? Any comments?

    welcome to D/grin phil...

    I like the photo. I try & do that short of shot quite a lot. If i was to comment on it then maybe for me there is too much wood & not enough ape.

    Can you crop it closer ?

    thats a much better crop, but that wood is still too distracting. challenges are pretty stiff these days, and i'm thinking technically, the OOF wood is just too much, still.

    also, even though the second is a better/less distracting crop, the face of the ape is more blown out on this one. Black animals are VERY hard to photograph for this reason! any less exposure and there would be no detial elsewhere.

    the ape doesn't seem to mind though :D
