I am ashamed to say that I have lived in this area for 10 years, yet this was my first trip ever to Venice Rookery. Of course I was not taking pictures of birds until 6 months ago. Looks like it will be cloudy tomorrow, I may still go down there.

These shots were from last Saturday, I just picked these four to process.
Enjoy.

Nice set. Venice Rookery is one of the premier places in Florida for birding.

Beautiful set of captures, especially if you have only been photographing birds for six months. I look forward to seeing your future work.......

    The Venice Rookery
clap.gif Loved the photos. What I found particularly interesting is the two herons interacting, something I've never seen and we have herons here in B.C. Even more interesting is the coloration on the beak of the heron facing the camera; it's not something I've seen before, the bit of bright blue and red?. Would this be a mating color or do look like this all the time? I'll have to check my own pictures! If this is a daffy question forgive my ignorance! JustPeachy2

    hahaha, you got me there.
I just started Wildlife shoot 6 months ago, and I am still learning myself.
I believe those are mating colors, but then again, I can't be 100% sure.

The funny part is that there is one female heron, that I have seen two weeks in a row, were mating with several males. Laughing.gif. I thought they pair for life, I guess she is the "Mistress" of the rookery. hahaha.
