Seen what I suspect is the very same hoverfly a few times when the sun appears. ID'd as Scaeva selenitica.

I'm shooting at higher magnification than 1:1 with an MPE-65 lens. Once you get used to shooting at 1:1 mag it's worth investing in a set of extension tubes which will get you to over 2:1 with your lens.
