American Bison
Earlier this month, I visited the Theodore Roosevelt National Park near Medora, North Dakota. I happened upon a heard of American Bison or Buffalo.
Here's an iPhone shot of the entire herd.
Like Bison in other national parks, they are used to people stopping to watch and photograph them. As the temperature was a crisp -15 degrees F out, I was content to photograph them from a car. Eventually, the herd meandered up near me. Using the Nikon 80-400VR, I was able to get some good closeups.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
