The attachment is some sort of Tit, but I'm not sure what, I thought it could be a coal tit or a great tit but the head is wrong and the beak looks too long. Any suggestions please

At first I thought it was a Meadowlark but the breast markings are wrong. Meadowlarks have a black V on their breasts.

Looks like a great tit after a haircut. Seems to have lost nearly all of the feathers on the head there.

It could be that it's moulting. Their feathers don't all moult at the same time (for obvious reasons), and you just happened to see it when it was growing a new hat; sort of like when someone catches you without your toupeé…

I've seen Blue Jays where their head feathers are moulting; they look just like miniature Turkey Vultures!

    Can anyone identify this bird
Thanks Guys and thanks for the welcome.

Jwear: I ruled out warblers, we dont have any with that black bib, the pic was taken just a couple of days ago. There were a three types of tit (Blue, Great and Coal), Dunnock, Blackbird and Robin all feeding from the same stump.

Pyry: Yeah I have a leaning towards Great Tit - but if my barber gave be a haircut like that ..........................

Will: I think you could be right about the moult - it could be a moulting Great Tit. I described it to my wife as looking like a Vulture headed Tit ¦:o)
