I was watching the people watching the game as I know zip about chess. Quickly hoisted the camera, quick AF, exposure check and "Click" I think the girl in the shades busted me :cry

    I think the strength of this photo is actually the guy on the far right of the frame in his strong stance. I suggest trying for a square crop, removing the left side so that the left edge cuts just about to the left corner of the board and see if you like that.

    Actually, I disagree with you... I think it should be cropped a little tighter from the bottom and the left... but only a little. It's a very strong photo just as it is, and seeing the crowd brings it all together for me.
