Hi folks. I'm a newbie here, introduced to Dgrin by a buddy of mine last night. I'm Alfie and I'm a British photographer and photojournalist living in Tokyo.

Thought it'd be nice, as my first post, to share some pics of the one night of snow we had here in Tokyo this week. It's rare to get snowfall in the middle of town so, like a kid, I headed out into it the moment the first flakes fell.

There's a bunch more shots from this evening on my Flickr page here.

Best wishes

Hi Alfie. Welcome to DGrin! I'm pleased there is another shooter in the region and looking forward to seeing more of Tokyo (I worked there for a couple of years a decade ago)

There's a nice sense of clarity to the images and they feel very much like mood shots. But, not much tension or storyline other than being in the city in the snow. Still, very nice. clap.gif

    Thanks both.

Michswiss: being in the city and in the snow was the point of the shots, so I guess they achieved that. Tension and storyline; well, I wasnt there to really get a tense storyline. It was more a question of just soaking up the event to at least come away with some successful one-off pieces.

Thanks a lot for your comments.

You definitely achieved your goal! Beautiful sense of the city in the snow.

I like #1 and #3. #2 is a great pic, but doesn't look like snow particularly, so it doesn't tell the story. It does work as part of the series.

Snow is rare in Madrid too, and people get all freaked out when a centimeter accumulates here. Having grown up in Chicago, I find it somewhat amusing.

Oh, and welcome to Dgrin wave.gif. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. thumb.gif

Good stuff, Alfie. I'm looking forward to seeing more from that corner of the world. Welcome to Dgrin.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.
