With all the snow and wind we've had this season these two leaves are still attached.

Interesting shot ... very nice background ... but (the big but), the OOF branch in the foreground is a bit distracting ... I'd clone it out or reshot the shot for a cleaner look.

    Hi Gary --

That branch is a bit distracting isn't it. I noticed it too. I had a "should I" or "shouldn't I" moment about cloning it out.

Can't reshoot, but I will try to clone it out.

Thanks for your idea's and taking a look :D

I do like it as well, however I like the branch in the foreground. So I think it is personal preference and either you select will be way cool shot.

    Hi,

    That dang branch :D

When I was editing this photo the darker line on the bottom of the photo was really bothering me rolleyes1.gif

Hi Mary Kim, I think this fits the category of 'less is more' - I really like it.

    Cheers, Richard.

    Hi Azzaro --

So true about simplifying. I'm slowly learning that rolleyes1.gif

The new version is growning on me. Think I'll keep it that way.

Its amazing how long some leafs seem to hang on through no mater what.
    :D
A good capture of solitary leafs and branches can be so powerful.
    Nice effort Mary Kim.

My wife pointed out just today how many new buds were coming on
as she was cleaning much of the old leafs away. She can't help but
    push spring along.

    Hi DaddyO --

It is amazing that leaves can still be there and winter is almost over.

Our Aspen budded out in late fall so the buds are frozen on the branches, but we won't see any real budding till April.

No snow in Idaho where your at? I thought Idaho always had snow. Shows how little I know :D

Thank you for your nice comment :D

We get some snow where we are at. Jusssst not tons of it and thats
pretty regular for us. Of course its cold without the snow. :D

Up in the mountain areas for snow its a mixed bag every year. The
farmers and ranchers never seem to be satisfied with whatever they get.
Least to hear the local paper tell it every year.

Theres about 3' of snow an hour or so north of us. Thats a bit low. ne_nau.gif

    You do get snow :D

Farmers/Ranchers do have a problem with being satisfied when it comes to weather rolleyes1.gif

I'll have to say that I like simple shots like this, I actually like the original WITH the branch at the bottom, however, I think that if you crop it as a horizontal and not a vert, keeping the bottom branch coming from the bottom right of the frame would look better as it would 'support' the other main branch with the two leaves...

You create object/frame contention with vert shots and long horizontal objects, at least in my opinion ...

    Good job! rolleyes1.gif

No problem, I'm sorry, I made a slight mistake, I meant keep the bottom branch coming from the bottom LEFT of the frame and let it extend across to the right ... :) Sometimes the crop makes all the difference!

I understood that you ment to keep the bottom branch and having it coming from the left corner. That will look kind neat. I'm going to give it a try thumb.gif

Agree...the crop can make a big difference. It's finding the right crop that's the problem sometimes for me :D
