How do we arrange images in a Virtual Gallery?

I shot a wedding and created 8 galleries (using sub-categories) to segment out my clients journey (there were over 1,000 images total.) Thought it would be great to then create an "Our Story" gallery that takes the "best-of" pictures from each gallery. However, when I use the Collection function, it adds the images to the gallery I've created as it should, except in a seemingly random order (though I'm sure it's not random, I just don't know what rules it goes by to order the images.)

Here's the real bummer, it won't allow me to arrange the 'virtual copies' in the gallery. I'm sure there is a perfectly good explanation as to why we can't do this, but it sure would be a fantastic feature!

I'm begging here--- please let us arrange our virtual images in our gallery using the same arranging tools we have for 'real-life' copies of the images in regular galleries.

I've already created a feature request at smugmug.uservoice.com so if you like this idea, jump on over and vote for it.

You can apply an auto-sort, but you can't manually arrange. This has been talked about frequently since the new feature arrived.

Thanks for the response, I'm glad it's being discussed. I did a keyword search for 'arrange' and 'virtual galleries' and 'sort' and 'virtual gallery' and came up with 9 different threads, none of which were dedicated to the topic.

Was there any response from smugmug staff on the subject?

Yes. You can apply an auto-sort, but you can't manually arrange.

Thanks Andy. I'm looking for more control than an auto sort though. I need to be able to specifically place images that may not be in the precise timeline of one of the available auto-sort functions.

I had 2 photographers at the wedding, so we were all shooting and time stamps aren't accurate as to the placement of the photo's in the timeline of the day. Trying to negotiate 2 sets of images from 2 shooters needs some extra placement help and manual arranging to get the story in order.

I'll have to simply pick the images and upload duplicates to the new gallery this time around. Hopefully, being able to use the arrange tools for virtual copies in a gallery will be a feature coming in the not-to-distant future.
