That lightning shot is great!! Very nice.

As far as Smugmug, I've been with them for a year now and haven't had one problem with them and neither have any of my customers. I've had numerous questions and they've always answered them ASAP.

    Welcome!!

I don't care for the crop on the waterfall shot. The main portion of the falls is dead center in the photo and you cut off the bottom of the falls. There's also too much dead space on top with very little interest.

The last shot was a good catch.

I have another photo, of the same falls on my site, its closer up, maybe you would like that one more. I have mixed reviews on the 2 some people like the dead weight surrounding the falls other don't!

    Thanks for the comment

    I appreciate it!

Also Lisa, what do you find smugmug is like for traffic, are you getting lots of sales? is the pro account worth it?

    Thanks again

I use it more for my clients but since it's my name, if I'm Googled then it comes up first.

Mainly it's used for my client purchases. I love being "out of the loop" on that one. It's easier for my clients because they have time to make decisions, grandma/aunts can go in the galleries and get the pictures they want, etc. I've paid out every month, at least my $100 worth so it's paid for itself 10 fold.

I've just recently went in and really started customizing it with the slide show, galleries off the front page, things like that and I've gotten great feedback from it. Other then different monitor sizes you have to scroll down on the home page, but that's not something I really can control lol

Recently they just started with the coupons which was great for me. I do an annual fundraiser where a portion of the profits go to the foundation, so I'm able to give people the coupon code, they enter it and I can calculate everything from the site. No need to me to head back to math class lol I like things very simple.

I'm sure some of the seasoned veterans might chime in, but I'm sure they were have positive things to say too or else they wouldn't be here lol

    Dylan,

Welcome. Keep up the good work.

I've had a smugmug pro account for about a year or so. I've been pleased. I think our two sites are somewhat comparable. I am a hobbyist as well. A number of smugmug members use their site to support their photography business. Sending clients to the site to proof or purchase the photos.

I don't have portrait/wedding clients. So the traffic that comes to my smugmug site has more to do with people looking for photos of specific scenes. Not always a lot of traffic. But I "promote" the site by also uploading photos to a flickr account, and to facebook albums, putting links to the smugmug site for higher resolution viewing.

As such, I've sold a surprising number of fine art prints this past year. So you might be surprised as well.

Lastly, I'll tell you that the other thing that is nice about the smugmug site is that it is integrated with Bay Photo lab, and they do an excellent job printing your work (for yourself or your purchasers).

    Good luck.

the first shot seems too dark to me... i don't often recommend HDR for images you're trying to sell, but this one just cries out for it.

the second shot is way too busy. all the logs and sticks and whatnot completely distract from the falls, which is too small and too centered.
