For those of us in the Southern Hemisphere and stuck in the winter chills, here's a dose of virtual sunshine. The colors of the lagoon in Bora Bora, French Polynesia, are astounding. This image captures how I recall the scene there; I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for letting me know. Strange - it rendered fine on my screen. Sigh...

Let me try another way (as an attachment). In case THAT doesn't work, here's a direct link to a larger version of the image: http://jusher.smugmug.com/gallery/697183/1/30460464/Large

Lots of different gear. I've been fortunate enough to play around with a bunch of different cameras/lenses via work. Not that my trip to Bora Bora was much work :)

That shot was with a Sony DSC-F828. Others in my smugmug galleries were taken with either a D70 (Northern Gallery) or D2X (Southern Gallery). The panorama sizes you end up with from a D2X can be spectacular (and tax the capabilities of my PC!)

The lens I use most of the time is the 17-55 f/2.8 Nikon DX. It's a spectacularly sharp lens and as a bonus you get to add muscle strength much more quickly than with many other lenses

Hope you like the other photos in the galleries. I plan to post a bunch more, but I'm really just getting started and figuring out what works for an online gallery.

    Cheers

Wonderful wonderful colors and great composition layout. Looks like paradise.

On my screen--missing a bit of sharpness.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful place with us.

jusher, you did fine, except that you don't have "external links" allowed for the gallery you are linking from. change that in "gallery settings" and you'll be fine. please don't use attchements, linking from smugmug (up to -L size) is much better!

Thanks for the tip - external links are now on, so hopefully things will go more smoothly :)

I just uploaded another Bora Bora photo - a view from the same island, looking out over part of Bora Bora's lagoon. This one just about gets me on the phone to book another holiday there!

As always, comments and feedback are much appreciated.
