Various shots taken during 2009-2010 Central Hockey League games at Rapid City, SD. Our team is the Rapid City Rush. Some of the pics are of opponents. All shots captured with a Canon XSi and EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS through glass. Some very light NR done with NN since the 450D is so noisy at 1600. C&C welcomed...I am relatively new at this.

Real nice, I like #7 with the puck frozzen in mid air.
    Well done

Very well done, enjoyed looking at those. I'm curious, where you shooting through glass?

Thank you all for the kind comments.

I am a season ticket holder and these shots were taken from my seat on the glass. Sometimes I am lucky and the crews clean the glass before games...more often there are puck and stick marks all over the glass. I am beginning to enjoy the challenge of shooting around the marks...hehe. Sometimes, like the whitish blurring across the middle of shot #10, the marks win.

Sweet photos!!! I LOVE to see great action shots like that - especially from non-pros. Makes me realize we can all do this w/ practice!

What software are you using for noise reduction? I just downloaded the Noiseware Plugin from Imagenomic to check it out for my photos. I'm usually shooting 3200-6400 ISO to get the shots in high school gyms.

    Thanks for the compliments.

I am using Noise Ninja plugin with Lightroom 2. I downloaded the profile for my camera body and it works very good without having to do much additional tweaking. NN works great for my purposes.

As for being a non-pro, I am blessed to have some very skilled photographers in the local area who have provided tips on how to shoot better. With their gracious help I got over the hump of being frustrated at not being able to photograph what was "in my head" and things have greatly improved.
