This is a GREAT capture, from well-selected DOF, placement of the biker, curving path, foggy background, etc.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Not yet.
I did fine ridding my scout quad around. Had it loaded down pretty good with camera and video gear and never had any problems.
    I did ride Brandon's 300 around just a little clap.gif
Had a hell of a time getting my leg up over the seat, and getting back off required a little help rolleyes1.gif
Just did an easy short trail and some dirt roads. Still need lots more strength in my leg before I can do a real ride, but at least it was a start thumb.gif
I would guess 3 to 4 months till my first real ride.

Here is a super rough edit of the video work
    http://schelske.smugmug.com/Other/Oregon-OHV/11181530_7q5As#783907997_x2zj7

Just cut out the junk and put in a song so don't expect much.
When I get done with the full edit and sequence the footage I will post it up in HD.

the lush ferns, the dark mud, the fog, the turn in the path.....the dof, the focus, the exposure.....love it all.

Outstanding. Gotta start somewhere...now where are the keys to the truck again? Laughing.gif

Awesome shot. How many times did you have him drive by to get that one?

Did you use flash fill as well. The exposure is great.

I was shooting mostly video and was doing lots of passes as video is new to me. I think we did 4 passes for stills and that was the 3rd I think.

I had an off camera flash panning with the action at around f4 at 125th at I think 640asa.

Nice video! My only critique is to follow the rider through (on the panning shots) and let him exit the scene.

I hope no camera equipment was sacrificed during the making of that video! The water shot is the one i referring to!

Added an interesting element for sure! Kinda the same lines of a buddy that put a fisheye on a 1D MKIIn and let a train run over it while tripping the remote shutter... Still think that was 1000% nuts - but I have never seen another shot like it! Yes, the camera survived just fine!

Did I miss it above or did you mention what the video footage was shot with? The video quality is superb in HD! clap.gif

I shot with the Canon 5D Mark 2 and used the Gopro HD for the mount and water shots.

Thanks@! I have access to all of that myself. I'll have to get out this summer when we thaw out and do something similar for my riding area!

What NLE did you use? I have always used Sony Vegas on my PC in the past, but recently switched over to Final Cut Express on my Mac. Either way, the HD content takes waaay more processing power.

Sorry for getting back to this so late.
Been on a shoot in AZ and just got back. Shot two full TV spots with 4 5D Mark2's.
This video was a test run for the TV spots. The quality in this vid is just OK shot at 640asa, but out in the desert at 100asa it is just unbelievable!
    Client was amazed thumb.gif
You can go out and buy 5 of these cameras for the cost of 1 weeks rental of a hi end video set up with lenses.
They don't work great for all setups, but worked for this job perfectly where the client just needed really short clips.

I dident use any NLE. I just shot a few still frames along with the video and then just pieced it in.
That way the single frame quality is way better.
