16mm with VR and the high ISO capability of the D700 and now D3s, that will be lots of fun, not to mention 1.4 @ 24mm.

Very much looking forward to these lenses' performance reviews, and looking forward to whatever else the next year or so brings. I definitely expect Nikon to rock some socks, and make the big boys happy. This particular release shows a definite commitment to both the slow + methodical landscape photographer AND the high-speed, low-light photojournalist / portrait photographer. I'll definitely be checking out that 24 1.4!!! What do you think it'll rent for, and when can we get on a waiting list?

Wow, I'm sure that the 24mm would be absolutely wonderful, but its a pity it is so big and heavy. I wish the lens was closer to the size and weight of the 50mm 1.4D or the 35mm F2D. Seems cameras and lenses are always getting bigger and heavier. And since I think its listed for 2,000 bucks on BH, I can't see it showing up on camera soon. Oh well.:cry

Not sure on the pricing -- we'll see what it ends up selling for out the door. As for a waiting list we usually don't have those for lenses but we just might for these as there is a lot of interest!

I thought I'd finished with lens lust until this. I love low light street work and that 24/1.4 is going to be sorely tempting. Drool indeed...

From what I understand, they will be releasing a 50mm f1.2 lens soon. Nikon is really bringing out the big guns.

AHHH a f/1.2, finally something to compete with canons 85mm f/1.2 i hope the 50mm f/1.4 drops in price a little if a 1.2 is released.

the one lens i wanna see is a 10mm prime DX, akward but hopefully it would be cheap...dont want to shell out for the 10-24 when ill probablly keep it a 10mm.

I really like the 16-35. But it seems too big and heavy. I can only guess video is why they put VR on that lens.
