Malting Little [Fairy] Penguin
After a pre 5am wake up, a friend and I walked over to Penguin Is (WA) this morning and arrived on the small reserve by about 6:30am hoping to shoot the Bridle Terns that are nesting at the moment. While on the 20min walk across the submerged sand bar we clutched at our heavy gear (which was packed in water resistant materials) searching for the best unmarked path.
The early morning light was absolutely perfect for an hour after we arrived while the sun shone through some unseasonal cloud cover.
The penguins finished nesting a few months ago and the adults have now well and truly left the last of the chicks to their own care. We found several chicks lazing about in the early morning sun dreaming of fish.

#3 is almost scary
The shot of the teeth is really unusual one for penguins! I don't think I have seen that before. Nicely handled light on the whites.

Thanks ppl.
#1 was such an amazing opertunity and the first time I had ever seen a Pengiun yawn. I could see some potential in the image and gave it that B Grade poster look.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
