Advice Please and/or critiques

I'd appreciate any advice on this photo. I think the only real negative to it is that it seems so blown out, with the white sky. The snow on her hat and the sky blend together so she doesn't pop out very well.

Interesting angle. Color is nice and as you noted the sky doesn't really help the image. The angle makes her look massively tall, which is what I assume you were going for. Sort of a friendly, cute, giant...

Try more contrast or lower your black point a smidge.
I really like the pictures a lot as it is, very nice!

Thanks for the suggestion Zoomer. I tried lowering the black point using curves, but I'm not sure I like the result. The left one is the original, the right is my edit.

What do you think? Better? Worse?

Am I doing something wrong, or should I just stick with the original?

If it were mine I would sharpen it a little and leave it as is.
I do not like the reworked version as much.

I hope you don't mind but I copied it off and played around with it. Maybe a small color saturation boost, very slight contrast increase and then some light sharpening would make it pop a bit more.


I think this is one of those If It Aint Broke....moments.

Excellent shot, enjoy it as is.

Very nice. As I scrolled down I was thinking - Wow she's a giant. Very cute. The high exposure in some areas are more than compensated for by her smile and the unusual angle. It's a keeper!

Reminds me of "Honey, I Blew Up the Kid".

I think it would be a good candidate for some high contrast sharpening - Go extremely BIG [max] on radius adjustments and only a slight slide of the "amount" [usually less than 10 will do it]. I like using the "Adjust Sharpness" action, set to "more refined" and selected to "remove lens blur".

Some sharpening with a little more saturation would improve it, but I see little wrong with it as it is. Nice shot.
