Before you fuss at me for my spelling, please note that in Cajun-land, "--eaux" is pronounced like the letter O. So when it snows in South Louisiana, that's how we spell it..

I took these with my point and shoot, I wasn't about to bring my 40D out in that mess, I'm as clumsy as they come and would hate to ruin my baby due to being dropped. That, and the point and shoot fits in my pocket, perfect to break into snowball fight at any moment.

And of course NOW that it's all melted away (we all knew it was too good to be true), I'm thinking of the shots I should have gotten. Oh well.

Our Snowman -- wearing a tartan driver's cap, broken 120 take up rolls for eyes, baby carrot for a nose and real charcoal for buttons. Yes, that's a kilt around him - my son's size 6 kilt still didn't reach all the way around him. You know you're a photographer when film rolls make snowman eyes. :)

Me!!!! I opened the door to grab something and my husband said "don't move, you're beautiful right now, hand me your camera" and this was the resulting shot

My 3'11" six year old squatting next to his snowman. December of 2008, we got enough snow to build one as tall as my 6'+ husband. Without his help this time, this was as big as we were going to go.

Monkey and the 'Neaux Bunnie.

And the video of my son writing his name - I know it's not a "shot" but I still thought it was cute enough to share. Mods, if this breaks rules, I'll take it down

Figured since the Saints won the Superbowl, Hell would freeze over and pigs would start flying... we're still waiting on the pigs.

Nah, it's just too cold for the pigs yet. It will happen.

I moved down there (St Charles Parish) in 81 just at the end of the 'Aints' year and left in 1998 (the middle of the Ditka fiasco). I did not suffer as long as the folks who lived down there their entire life but I still remember the Sunday afternoons screaming at the TV and then slumping into the sofa (the Mora years). Now that they are an entertaining team all I get are Cowboy games...

Enjoy the off-season. Hopefully Gregg Williams will not go anywhere and still be there next year. If that happens, I predict another deep playoff run and who knows???

In the 17 years I was there it only snowed 1 time and the entire New Orleans area was paralyzed. They closed the Huey P Long and Luling-Destrehan bridges and everyone had to work their way over the CCC (Crescent City Connection). One guy from work took 8 hours to get from Luling to Metairie.

Yes and when they sprinkled sand on the Lafitte bridge I was thinking.. What are they doing that for??

    WOW!!!

My son's dad lives in Alexandria and we're supposed to meet up so he can spend Mardi Gras with his dad.. until I got the text today that said "I-49 is closed between Alex and Lafayette, I'll keep you posted"

Unfortunately, by the time I posted those pictures, most of the snow was gone, now, all that's left in the yard is half of Frosty :(.

I know they got some as far west as Biloxi, and a friend in Tallahassee saw a *few* flakes.

Prior to December 08, the last measurable snowfall we got was in January '88 - WAY overdue!!
