Smugmug links don't work occasionally

My galleries are all unlisted so I send out album/sharegroups links when I want to share my photos. However, my friends & family have been telling me that sometimes they're asked to log in or they're taken to the Smugmug front page. Tried accessing my links and this happened to me a couple of times too. Specifically, when I click on album links from the Sharegroups, I'm taking to the Smugmug front page.

I noticed that sometimes, instead of albums linking to mels02.smugmug.com/[etcetc] it links to www(not mels02!).smugmug.com instead.

Anyone know what's going on? :O

If the link is changing to www.smugmug.com, it's likely that you have hide owner set to yes.

Hi Denise! Thanks for your response. All my albums are set to Hide Owner: No.

I think I figured out the problem though -- I previously linked the Sharegroup links to bit.ly to get shorter, easier to remember URLs. However, whereas the old Sharegroup links started with www.smugmug, some time ago they changed the format to [username].smugmug.

I realized that when I was accessing the Sharegroups using the bit.ly links, everything would link to www instead. Weird because everything else would work -- the correct album names and images would appear, just the links to the albums would be incorrect.

However, as long as I access the Sharegroup via the new link (beginning in my username, not the older www.smugmug ones, and NOT via the bit.ly links I'd created which linked to the older links) everything would work fine. I'd love to know though how come accessing the Sharegroup via the older Sharegroup link still displays the page correctly except for the album links.
