I found out a few weeks ago that a local artist/friend who I haven't seen in a few months saw the pic in the paper and said to a mutual friend "I wonder if Scott would let me have the picture to make a painting". News got back to me and I called the artist friend and told her I'd drop off the image right away.

I bumped into the gal the other day at the grocery store and she had the painting which is underway in the back of her car, so I got a look. She's doing a fine job with it. I think it will make a nice painting.

I had no idea how or what she was going to do with it in order to get the job done before talking to her about it, but what she did was blow up the print to a large size and then freehand draw a basic outline on canvas, and then paint it. The painting is about 30X20, or something about that size.

That's cool. Is there anything in this arrangement for you, other than happiness? Just asking - not suggesting you shouldn't do this at all.

I'll get a print of the painting, but I asked for nothing. The gal doing the painting is a wonderful woman who I am thrilled to have painting one of my images. Her husband is also an excellent artist and some-time photog. He's also an old school party animal who still sports long hair and an anti-establishment attitude. They are both retired.

clap.gifclap It'll be nice to have the print. I have a good friend who's an artist and we sometimes exchange work the same way.
